Bjarke Skyum Donslund

During his PhD studies, Bjarke Donslund has worked with the development of organocatalytic methods to acquire carbo- and heterocyclic frameworks of potential interest as pharmaceuticals.

In organocatalysis, small chiral organic molecules are applied as catalysts for various reactions transferring chiral information. Bjarke’s research has been focused on the development of new tools for highly selective cycloadditions and other cyclization strategies, which grant access to novel steroid analogues, spirocyclic systems and more. The basis for the findings has been the utilization of strategically designed substrates and new activation modes.

The PhD degree was completed at the Department of Chemistry, Science and Technology, Aarhus University.
