3MT 2023

The annual 3MT competition at Aarhus University took place on March 22 in a fully booked Stakladen. Here 15 PhD students presented their research in 3 minutes and with only 1 slide as support, and the audience got insights into brand new research from ants to artificial liver cells over online marketplaces to weaning of piglets.

The winner of the competition was Ida Cecilie Jensen from the department of Ecoscience with the presentation: The smelly feet of ants and their applications in agriculture. The People’s Choice Winner was Milica Milic from the department of Biological and Chemical Engineering with a presentation on how to make bioplastic of sugar. AU Mentor PhD is an offer to the PhD students from all five faculties at Aarhus University. The goal of the mentor programme is to support you in your career development and ease your transition from university to a career outside of academia by bringing you closer to the business community. The programme consists of mentors and mentees with mutual interests and whose participation is voluntary.

A mentor can provide you with information about his/her experiences about the job market outside academia, work life-balance, job seeking etc. and be a sounding board to the questions and ideas you have concerning the qualifications, career direction, networking and competence development concerning your future career.

There are limited spots for the Mentor Programme and the spots are dristibuted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Getting an Edge: How to Prepare for a Career Fair

At this webinar you will learn tips and tricks on how to prepare for your engagement with the companies at PhD Career Day 2023. We will discuss how to prioritize the companies that match your profile and which ones to explore to expand your job horizon, and how to get in touch with them.

Global Health Challenges and Solutions

Did you know that PhD students and postdocs can make use of free counselling with the student chaplain at AU?

Aarhus University offers free counselling to all students and employees with the student chaplain. You can discuss a variety of topics such as relationships, grief, worries, stress, finding your path, loneliness, or religious and spiritual issues. You decide what you want to talk about during the session. The student chaplain is bound to professional secrecy.

The counselling is available to all students and employees, regardless of religious beliefs and it is free of charge.
