Company visit at NMD Pharma

Last Friday we had a company visit at NMD Pharma for PhDs and postdocs with interest in the biotech and life science industry.

Here we met NMD Pharma's scientists who explained about their journey from basic academic research to biotech, and about how basic research can be turned into discovery and development of potential novel treatments of neuromuscular diseases.

We got information of their recruitment process and insights into how it is to word as a scientist in a specialized life science company in Aarhus.

Thanks to the participants for their  engagement in the company visit.

Communication rocks! Aarhus University has a new international 3MT-winner for the second time in a row

From AU Career PhD& JR a huge congratulations to Ida Cecilie Jensen, who not only won the internal AU competition but also won the international 3MT-final at the COIMBRA conference in Cologne on June 1st🙌

As a young researcher, it is crucial to develop good communication skills. The ability to explain your research and your competences clearly to a broader audience, is just as important in your academic career as it is in a career in industry.

A great way to challenge yourself and develop your communication skills, is to do like Ida Cecilie Jensen and 15 other PhD Students did this year. They participated in the Three Minute Thesis Competition at AU where they competed in giving the best presentation of their research in only three minutes. Before going on stage, they received highly qualified teaching and training from science communication expert and PhD Linda Greve.

Cover Letter Writing Webinar

Having a good cover letter is essential to a strong job application, but it can be difficult to formulate well. This webinar will cover how to write effective cover letters for a non-academic job context. We will discuss the structure of good cover letters, how to “show it don’t tell it" when showcasing your strengths, and all the do’s and dont's.

Get Feedback on Your CV: Workshop on CV Writing

Date & Time: 7 September, 14.00-16.00

Location: Meeting Room 1, Building 1420

Join this workshop and work on your own CV for jobs in the private or public sector. We will cover the structure and content of your CV; profile descriptions, and tips on translating your academic skills for a non-academic context. After a mix of presentations, group work and individual work, you will come out of the workshop with an almost finished CV.

Project management Tools for Grant writing for postdocs

Date & Time: 23/8, 24/8 & 13/9

Location: Meeting Room 1 - Building 1420, Fredrik Nielsens Vej 2. 8000 Aarhus C

This course focuses on using project management tools as a systematic means of developing your initial grant ideas. You will be working with writing exercises where you will be working on your own grant proposal and get feedback. The speaker for this course is Constance Elizabeth Kamp who is a Special Consultant in Project Management tools at Health PhD School.

Survey about working conditions for PhD Students

Dear PhD student,

The labor union DM and the PhD Association Network of Denmark (PAND) work to promote the interests of PhD students at Danish research institutions. Part of this effort aims at creating better working conditions for PhD students and junior researchers. For this purpose, we collect data every two years through a survey on PhD students’ experiences and work lives at research institutions. We last conducted the survey in April-May of 2021. By participating in the survey, you will provide us with crucial data on, for instance, well-being, working environment, social relations at work, career expectations, access to funding for extensions in case of illness, and experiences of harassment. This helps strengthen our position in working for the best conditions for PhD students at Danish research institutions. The survey takes 5-10 minutes to complete.

Your response will be treated with confidentiality.

We do not publish or share conclusions that can be traced back to single individuals. If you have questions, feel free to contact DM at phd@dm.dk or PAND at pand@phddenmark.dk
