Criteria for participation: University degree in medicine, dentistry, nursing, or Master’s degree in other fields and/or postgraduate research fellows (PhD students and research-year medical students).

Requirements for participation: First year of PhD studies

Aim: To encourage PhD students to develop career management skills during their PhD

AUPA (Aarhus University PhD Association) works politically and strategically to improve the conditions for PhD students across all five faculties at Aarhus University. We represent PhD rights, provide support in everyday academic life, and collaborate closely with AU’s local committees and administration to address issues that matter to PhDs.

The General Assembly is an opportunity to learn more about AUPA’s work, meet fellow PhD students, and explore how you can get involved in shaping the PhD experience at Aarhus University. Food and drinks will be provided.

Most young researchers face the big question of whether to pursue a career in academia, or to take the leap and pursue opportunities in industry/public sector. This pivotal question often comes with a range of emotions, uncertainties, and big decisions.

This event will focus on the key considerations involved in deciding which paths to pursue, and we will explore the different factors that are essential when choosing between staying in academia or transitioning to a career beyond academia. We will discuss the difference between academia and industry, and you will be working with understanding your values and drivers so that you can make decisions that match who you are and how you would like your future work-life to be.

This event is for both PhD students and Junior Researchers at AU.

Preparing for Career Transitions (Only for PhD students at Health)

At this webinar you will learn tips and tricks on how to prepare for your engagement with the companies at PhD Career Day 2026. We will discuss how to prioritize the companies that match your profile and which ones to explore to expand your job horizon, and how to get in touch with them. We will also talk about your next steps in your interactions with the companies after PhD Career Day. 

This event is for both PhD students and Junior Researchers at AU.

Recruitment Panel 2026 (Part of PhD Career Day 2026)

What do companies and organisations look for in CVs and cover letters? And what are their recruitment processes like? You can get an inside on this and much more at the event "Recruitment Panel" the 29th of April from 12.00-13.30. The event comprises of a panel discussion and a Q&A session on 4 key topics.

This event is a great warm-up event for the PhD Career Day 2026 where you will be able to get specific knowledge about what the participating companies value in the hiring proces. The lineup is still TBA, so stay tuned!

PhD Career Day 2026 (Organized by AU Career PhD & JR)

PhD Career Day is an annual physical career fair where you will meet several companies and hear about your opportunities to start a non-academic career.

PhD Career Day is exclusively aimed at PhD students and postdocs from the following three faculties: Natural Sciences, Technical Sciences, and Health Sciences. The participating companies will therefore cover industries within the field of Natural, Technical and Health Sciences. 

The companies will have a stand where you can meet them face-to-face and hear about how your skills and attributes are useful for the companies.

Programme for PhD Career Day 2026:

14.00-15.00: Company Presentations (3-2-1): 
                       3 minutes, 2 slides, 1 presenter from each company

15.00-16.45: Meet & mingle - company networking
