									<h2>Workshop topics&nbsp;</h2>
<p>In this workshop, participants will learn about managing their scientific and societal impact, and actively engaging stakeholders in research projects. The workshop is structured within selected discussion topics. The following three topics will be discussed:&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Societal impact and stakeholder involvement</strong>. Participants are encouraged to reflect upon their actual and potential societal impact, the pathways to impact, and the steps required to include different audiences and partners in research. Focus is placed on interdisciplinary approaches.&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>The significance of interdisciplinarity with respect to impact</strong>. Considering research impact, how and to what extent can interdisciplinary approaches lead to increased academic and societal impact? Impact, dissemination, science communication, stakeholder involvement, etc. include opportunities and challenges, as well as successes and failures.&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Failures in impact, dissemination and science communication</strong>. Bottom-up, scientifically excellent research has the potential to generate groundbreaking results but is also considered as high-risk. Success stories are important, but so are experiences about failures and challenges in forming an interdisciplinary research team, conducting interdisciplinary research, making impact and successfully disseminating the results and outcomes.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The workshop will identify impact of interdisciplinary research projects and will provide concrete examples that can be of inspiration to researchers, research foundations and national research funding agencies. Workshop participants will receive feedback as how they can work on impact documentation and communication in a structured way and work on the planned impact reports.&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Speaker bio&nbsp;</h2>
<p>David Budtz Pedersen, professor of Science Communication and Impact Studies at Aalborg University, will deliver the workshop and introductory presentation. His areas of expertise include impact assessment and management, evidence-informed policymaking, mission-oriented research and innovation, and science communication. He has extensive experience with documentation and assessment of impact of interdisciplinary research.&nbsp;</p>
