This year PhD students can vote and stand for election for the PhD committees. If you are enrolled in a combined Master’s/PhD programme, you can also vote and stand for election for the boards of studies, the university board and the academic councils.

If you are employed as a PhD student at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and the Faculty of Technical Sciences, you can also vote for the academic council. Read more about the various councils, boards, and committees.

Do you want to have an influence on your work and study conditions as a PhD student?

The university elections are your chance to influence decisions regarding your PhD programme and your workplace through the university’s democratic decision-making bodies.

If you are interested in standing for election, now is the time to get involved. You can also make a difference by voting for the candidate whom you think is best qualified to make a difference for your degree or PhD programme.

PhD students can always have a representative present at PhD committee meetings. But in order for PhD representatives to have voting rights on the committees, they must be elected.

How to stand for election

If you are interested in standing for election you can register your candidacy from Monday 19 October at 9:00 to Friday 23 October at 12:00. However, it is a good idea to submit your candidacy registration in the election system as early as possible in the period so that any errors can be corrected before the deadline expires. Read more about how to stand for election.

Check your voting rights

Check your voting rights well in advance of the election. You can do so by logging in to the election system with your AU-ID and password (WAYF). When you have logged into the election system, you can see who you can vote for and when (available from 5 October).

New PhD students who enrol in their PhD programmes after 1 October 2020 should contact the Election Secretariat at valg@au.dk to be assigned voting rights.

When to vote

You can cast your vote electronically at au.dk/valg during the election period 9 November at 9:00 – 12 November at 16:00.

Log on to the system with your AU-ID and password (WAYF). You cannot vote by post or by paper ballot.
