Nanoscience/iNANOSchool

Research facilities available:

iNANO embraces a number of core facilities for state-of-the-art nanoscale research, including structural analyses (XRD, NMR, SAXS, TEM, Nano pore technology), bio-imaging (IVIS Imaging, FRET, MRI, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy) and surface analysis (XPS, SIMS, AFM, STM, SEM) as well as cleanroom facilities for nanostructure synthesis. The cross-institutional structure of iNANO furthermore provides access to a wide spectrum of complementary research tools across different fields of research.

Department of Physics and Astronomy, Department of Chemistry, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Department of Biosciences, Aarhus University Hospital, Aarhus University Faculty of Health, The Center for DNA Technology (CDNA), The Center for Insoluble Protein Structures (inSPIN), Lundbeck Nanomedicine center for Individualized management of tissue damage and regeneration (LUNA), Centre for Materials Crystallography (CMC), Centre for Functional Integrative Neuroscience (CFIN), Sino-Danish Center (SDC).

Examples of employment after graduation:

Vestas A/S, Grundfoss A/S, Haldor Topsøe, Novo Nordisk, Santaris Pharma Exiqon, Danisco, Dupont, Danish Technological Insitute, Siemens Particle Therapy, Plougman & Vingtoft, McKinsey,  FLSmidth, postdoc positions in national and international universities and high school lecturer positions.

Geographic location:

Aarhus University at the affiliated departments and centers. From summer 2012 much of the iNANO research and teaching activities will be joined in a newly build laboratory and office complex.

International cooperation:

We are involved in a number of programs supporting short term PhD research stays abroad such as in China, USA and most of Europe.

National cooperation:

National cooperation: iNANO has many formalized collaborations with more then 60 Danish companies including Novo Nordisk A/S, Novozymes, Lundbeck A/S,  Leo Pharma, Arla Foods amba, Danisco,  Grundfos A/S, Haldor Topsøe A/S, Santaris Pharma, Danfos A/S, Aalborg Portland Group, Coloplast Research A/S and CLC-Bio A/S.

Well above 170 PhD students are associated with iNANOschool.
