Negotiations: How to Make your PhD an Asset

As the output of PhDs have increased in the past decade, more and more researchers are considering careers outside academia. As a consequence, many researchers ask how their experience as academics are valued in various contexts in for instance industry, NGO’s or public sector employment. At this event we will address this issue by focusing on two things:

1. how do I communicate the value of my PhD and research experience to employers?
2. how do I negotiate wages and benefits in my career after the PhD?

Cancellation Courtesy Policy

We kindly request that you promptly cancel your participation as soon as you know that you cannot attend. Late cancellations and not cancelling at all, greatly impact our work in three significant ways:

• Candidates on the waiting list are not able to attend
• The quality of the course or workshop cannot be guaranteed when groups are too small
• Prepared and paid resources are wasted when registered participants do not show up
