Registering the Future: A Short Introduction to Preregistration in Science (Organized by JRA)

Researchers face numerous decisions during the scientific process that can impact their interpretation and results. To minimize selective reporting, combat researcher degrees of freedom, and increase transparency, the medical and social sciences have introduced the concept of preregistration. This process involves publicly recording the methods, design, and/or analysis plan of a study before it is conducted.

This introductory workshop will provide an overview of pre-registration, discussing its advantages and disadvantages, and offering a practical guide on how to set up a preregistration. Additionally, we will explore the future of preregistration and its applicability across various scientific disciplines and approaches. The workshop will be relevant to all researchers who wish to familiarize themselves with this scientific procedure.
